Students Should Not Be Allowed To Have Phones In Class

Ring! Ring! Ring! How annoying would that be while taking a test in class? Phones in class can be used in some ways to benefit your learning but there are some bad ways of having your phones in class. Students should NOT be allowed to have phones in class because of lack of attention, cheating on tests and worksheets, and that the middle school brain is not fully developed yet. Phones should not be allowed in class.

First, students would be too busy on their phones and not paying attention in class. 65 percent of cell-owning teens bring their phones to school despite any bans that may be in place. Most schools now allow students to have cell phones but require them to be turned off during class because they can be disruptive and distracting. Students would distract other classmates during their learning time, they can start rumors about other people, can create some health issues, and can be used for bullying on social media. (Snapchat, Instagram, and Twitter, etc) In conclusion, that is how phones can be distracting to others in class.

Second, students can get answers off the internet. Cell phones can be a helpful learning tool in class. But they can also be used by students to access information while taking a test, leading to cheating. Even if a student isn’t caught, this can lead to him or her having a poor understanding of the material in the future and can lead that to a not good future life. Students can make a group chat and share answers, Students can pull up calculators or a math algebra solver, other students can take pictures of the test who took it before, and can post pictures on social media about the test. In conclusion, that is how students can cheat on their tests and not learn what they have learned that school day.

Third, some people would argue that it should be a student's choice to have their phones in class. One cannot deny that some students may choose not to use their cell phones. However, studies show a brain is not fully developed in school students. Therefore, students might not make the right decision on whether their learning or phones are more important.

In conclusion, that is how students can’t have their phones in class and also to distract others.
