Having school a hour later

Having school an hour later

In one poll from the National Sleep Foundation, 45 percent of adolescent in the United state said they slept for an insufficient length of time on school nights, and 19 percent of students said they fell asleep in school at least once a week. This statistically is alarming and shows the severity of students needing to get more sleep. with that being said, if we start going to school an hour later going to school later will have kids be less sleep-deprived, and kids will pay more attention in class.

With that being said, kids will pay more attention in class with a late start. According to the study of “neatoday.org” Following the late start time, students were also more alert and engaged in the class, absence, and tardiness decreased, and final grades increased by 4.5 percent. This can tell us that, when they had some more time to sleep, they did better in school.

On that note, going to school later can help kids that are sleep deprived. According to a study of “neatoday.org”, it says “Sleep-deprived teens struggle to learn, have a greater risk for depression, anxiety, suicidality, sports injury, and car accidents.” With that being said, sleep deprive teens and kids will have more problems with learning. You can probably help your learning because you will get more rest.

At the same time, delaying school can impact schedules and shorten school hours. However, schedules can easily be adjusted to accommodate a later schedule. This can tell us that, even if it impacts the schedules you could just get out of school a little later. And the same with the sport just make it later or have it inside if it is dark.

Getting more sleep is essential for students. The reasons being, kids will pay more attention in class, and people being sleep deprived will decrease. In conclusion, getting more sleep will help kids pay more attention in class.
