Phones and other technology affect our brains
Looking at a phone for hours can not only hurt your eyes, but it can also hurt your brain. Being on the phone at night for a few hours can affect a lot. People get affected every day because of the phone or other technology. Phones and other technology affect our brains.
First, people do not take in information as easily as they used to. To clarify, “They increase anxiety...researchers have noted that social media has played a role in increasing these sad feelings.” That stated that due to anxiety/stress, people can not sometimes focus due to that person being on social media. Sad feelings can interfere with how people take in information. If people are stressed, that can affect the way they take in information because they are most likely thinking about how to handle that certain situation than to be focusing.
In addition to the first example, phones affect mental health. The article states, “Cell phone usage badly affects mental health...they look anxious, depressed, and angry.” That simply explains that once a person just got off the phone, from social media, for a few hours, that person can look depressed, stressed, angry, etc. Just from looking like that or feeling depressed can definitely affect mental health.
Finally, it is somewhat argued that people do not get enough sleep when on the phone. Of course, it does come down to a personal choice to be on the phone at night. However, studies by Patrick J. Skerrett from Harvard Health and Bentley University, shows that people indeed do not get enough sleep when on the phone at night. When people are on their phones, it can only take a few scrolls to realize it is late. People feel as if it has been a few minutes when in reality, it has been a few hours.
In conclusion, all the effects the phone does to our brain is bad. Making a time limit is better than letting the internet to take over. Thus, our phones can affect things like our brains.
