Softball is Harder Than Baseball

Have you ever wondered is softball harder than baseball? People would think softball is easier because girls are playing it. No softball is harder than baseball. Here's how you have a shorter time to react to the ball, it's harder to get from Base to Base, and softballs are heavier than baseballs. Softball is harder than baseball.

First, you have a shorter time to react to the ball. Balls can be hit up to 100 mph. Because the infield is smaller the infielder has 3.2 seconds to react and throw the ball to first base. The infield is only 7,200 feet whereas a baseball infield is 16,700 feet. So when playing softball you have very little time to get the ball and throw it to first before the runner gets on base.

Secondly, its harder to get from base to base. You can't lead off like you can in baseball. Because the infield is smaller in softball you can't get a leadoff from the base, and you can only leave the base once the ball has left the pitcher’s hand. Softball players have to run fast because you cant get a head start like you can in baseball.

Lastly, people would also argue that baseball is harder because the ball is smaller and harder to see. Baseballs are smaller than softballs so people say they are harder see. As that might be true softballs are heavier and harder to throw. Therefore, softballs are harder to throw and hit.

In conclusion, softball is scientifically proven to be harder then baseball . Because you have a shorter time to react to the ball, it’s harder to get from base to base, and softballs are heavier. Softball is harder than baseball.

  1. Very interesting and I agree. Also, The grass in the infield for baseball slows the ball down but not in softball.
