My Holiday Tradition 🎄
I don't actually celebrate Christmas, but my family does. As you can see I put a "my" in my title, that's because I'm the only one in my family who does this tradition. My tradition is... (drumroll) hanging dried oranges on my tree! Unexpected right? I celebrate the winter equinox or Yuletide (Yule), and this is actually a very common thing to do if you celebrate Yule. It stands for the sun being brought back from the dark half of the year (which ends on the winter equinox), The days become longer, the nights become shorter (vise Versa happens on the other half of the year, holiday: Litha). The orange slices represent the sun, commonly done this Scandinavian and german peoples. Let me give the recipe on how to make these.
Recipe~
- Get a cookie sheet or a flat dish
- preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
- cut your oranges down the middle into thin slices
- set in oven for 15-20 mins until completely dried
- hook them on ornament hooks and hang
